Two Men Charged Following Theft, Bristo Square, Edinburgh

Police in Edinburgh have charged two men in connection with a theft from a business premises in Edinburgh city centre on New Year’s Day.

 

Two men forced entry to a static cabin premises on Bristo Square around 6.50am on Wednesday, 1 January, 2020 and left a short time later with a safe containing a five-figure sum of cash.

 

This morning (Friday, 17 January, 2020) a search of two properties in the Holyrood area resulted in a quantity of heroin with a street value of £7,000 being recovered and the arrest of two men in connection with the theft.

 

A 50-year-old man and a 26-year-old man have been charged and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 20 January, 2020.

 

Detective Inspector Jon Pleasance from Edinburgh CID said: “We are grateful for the all the support we have received from the public in relation to this investigation.

 

“In particular, I would like to thank the business community around Bristo Square and the South Side of Edinburgh who greatly assisted police enquiries.”
